Death Kokeshi

I recently got a CD of a storyteller that I really like, Motoko, and it had a wonderfully creepy story about a Kokeshi doll that read out the names of every person on earth who would die that night.

Pretty cool, eh? ;D

I put this in Still Life even though I didn't base it off an actual doll I had in front of me. I looked at some pictures of Kokeshi dolls and then kinda added my own design.

I tried to look up what flowers are most common at Japanese funerals, but I couldn't find much information. So I used a white lily because that seems to be a pretty common mourning/death flower. Also, I added the upright!hair sticks because I remember reading somewhere that at a Japanese funeral chopsticks are stuck upright in a bowl of rice. However, correct me if I'm wrong, natives.

Hahaha, hooray for ruining all the symbolism in the piece. XDDD
